Six weeks in, portfolio is fine, spending is under plan, and I still get a jolt every second Friday when the salary would have landed. I keep opening the brokerage app for no reason. People further out: does this settle, roughly when, and was there anything specific that helped other than time passing?
About nine months for me, and the thing that shortened it was setting up an actual monthly transfer from the cash account into my current account on the same date the salary used to arrive. Sounds silly. It completely rewired the Friday feeling, because money still showed up on a schedule and my brain stopped treating every expense as a withdrawal from a finite pile.
Third person recommending the fake paycheck. It's the highest ratio of benefit to effort of anything I did in year one.
Setting this up today. That's such a small change for the amount of noise it would remove.
Mine faded around the first full tax year, once I had a complete cycle of actual numbers instead of projections. Turns out I didn't want reassurance, I wanted data.
Honestly it never entirely went for me, it just got smaller and more occasional. Two and a half years out I still get an odd afternoon of doubt, usually when markets have had a bad week. I take it as a reasonable response to an unusual situation rather than a problem to solve.
Same, and I found it dropped a lot when I picked up a small amount of paid work I actually enjoyed. Not for the money, for the fact that the money exists.

Delete the brokerage app from your phone and check on a laptop once a month. Six weeks in, nothing you see there is information, it's just weather.
