Is a fresh-food subscription like The Farmer's Dog worth it for a dog who is already doing fine? Dog
22 kg mixed breed, six years old, currently on a mid-range kibble he has eaten happily for four years. Bloodwork is normal, coat is fine, no itching, no gut issues — so I am not solving a problem, I am reacting to every second person telling me kibble is poison. The subscription quote was several times my current monthly food spend and my freezer is one drawer. Has anyone switched a healthy dog and seen something they could actually point to?

Switched a healthy nine-year-old for eight months. Things I could actually point to: smaller, firmer stools, and he was noticeably more interested in dinner. Things I could not point to: energy, coat, weight, or anything on bloodwork. I went back to kibble when the cost stopped feeling justified by "he likes it more", which is a real benefit but a small one.
