Emergency clinic tonight or regular vet Monday for a limp that comes and goes Is This Urgent
Saturday evening. Six year old spaniel came in from the garden holding his back left leg up, put it down after a few minutes, and has been limping on and off since — fine walking around the house, obvious limp when he gets up from lying down. He is eating, no yelping, lets me touch the leg. Emergency clinic is 45 minutes away and quotes a 180 out-of-hours fee. Regular vet opens Monday at 8. What would you do?

Film him getting up from lying down, tonight and tomorrow. Limps have an infuriating habit of vanishing on the consulting room floor and a ten second video has saved me a second appointment more than once.

Filmed it. He was completely fine at the appointment, exactly as predicted, and the video is what they actually looked at.
