Same five products for two years and my skin turned on them in October
Nothing in the routine changed, but since about the middle of October I have been tight and flaky by lunchtime with small closed bumps along my jaw that were never there before. Same cleanser, same moisturiser, same retinoid two nights a week, same sunscreen. New flat since September with radiators that run hot, and I am now trying to decide whether to strip back to three products or just swap the cleanser and see. Has anyone had a stable routine stop working without changing anything?

Buy a cheap hygrometer before you buy any skincare. Mine sat at 28 percent relative humidity in a flat with modern radiators, and that alone was enough to turn a routine that had worked for two winters into a flaking mess. A small humidifier in the bedroom overnight got me back to the low forties and my skin was recognisable again inside about ten days. That is a fifteen quid diagnostic against a fifty quid guess at a new moisturiser.

The timing fits horribly well, the radiators went on in the second week of October. Ordering a hygrometer tonight.
