Moving my wake time 90 minutes earlier for a new shift — what in the bedroom actually helped?
New job starts at 07:00 in four weeks and I currently get up at 07:30, so I need to be waking at 05:45 and not feeling destroyed by week two. East facing room with thin curtains, so in summer I am already getting light at 05:00 and it does not wake me. My partner is staying on the old schedule and sleeps through nothing. I would rather change the room than rely on willpower, so what actually did something for you?

On cost, because this can spiral. A blackout roller blind cut to the recess did more for me than any curtain and came in well under a hundred, and the cheap fix before that was a blackout blind kit stuck to the glass, which looks terrible and works. Dawn simulation lamps run from budget models to silly, and the cheap one I bought does the same job as the expensive one my brother has, it just has a worse app. Total under 150 and it is the best money I have spent on sleep other than the mattress.
