I lose or sit on roughly two pairs a year. Ten years of that at a premium price is a lot of money for a thing whose main job is filtering light, which the cheap ones do. What I check is that the lenses are not visibly distorting and that the hinges are metal. Everything above that is paying for a thing I am statistically going to destroy.
