Refused, appealed, eventually paid. The thing that changed it was not arguing about the humidity: it was the technician's written note from a service six months earlier saying the instrument was in good condition in that room.

A refusal on environmental grounds is a claim that the conditions were wrong. Anything dated that says otherwise attacks the premise instead of the conclusion.
