One caution on the romance of remnant shopping: it is genuinely one-off, which means no going back for more, no matching a later project, and often no fibre label at all.
Practical rules I use. Buy the full amount plus a margin, in one go. Photograph the fabric with a note about what it feels like and any fibre test you did, because unlabelled fabric in a stash is a mystery within a year. And do not buy something wonderful with no project in mind, because that is how a stash becomes storage.
