Worth saying what the cheap ones are actually cheap at. A twelve dollar Mac app is reading the public store: search results, visible metadata, review text. The expensive platforms are expensive because they buy or model panel data and estimate downloads and revenue, which is a different product with a different cost base. Both are called ASO tools and they answer different questions. If you want to know what you rank for, the cheap one is fine. If you want to know whether a category is worth entering at all, it cannot tell you and will not say so.

Fair for two apps. The bit I would still hold is that rank numbers disagree between tools, sometimes badly. Pick one and stay on it, because the trend is real even when the absolute number is not.
