Different route to the same place. I never installed analytics at all and I have a list of 90 people. When I publish, 90 people get it, and about 40 open it, and that is a number I can actually feel something about.
Traffic numbers on a small site are abstract in a way a list is not. Ninety people is a room. Nine hundred pageviews is nothing.
