The concrete news this year is that the US finally added a new filter. Bemotrizinol was approved in June and companies can start putting it into products from 9 August, and it's been in use in Europe and Asia for years. So the gap that made American sunscreens feel stuck is starting to close, although one company holds an exclusivity period first, so it won't be everywhere immediately.
