On reusable identity, the reason it keeps turning into a data vendor is worth spelling out, because people read it as regulators being slow. The firm that onboards you is the one carrying the consequence if you turn out to be somebody else. Handing the check to a third party does not move that consequence, so what they are really buying is something that makes their own check faster and cheaper. That is a genuine business. It is just not a single sign on for money.
