A Linux filesystem for the Linux library is cleaner if you can accept losing access from the Windows side.

Lost a save file to exactly this and the detail that matters: Fast Startup means Windows does not fully shut down, so the volume is left in a state Linux treats as unsafe. Sometimes it mounts read-only, sometimes it mounts and misbehaves later.

Turning it off is the first thing to do, before any of the harder questions, and it is one setting.
