Following up because two replies have landed on the same correction and they are right.
I wrote this as a list of replacements and the actual finding is underneath the list: everything that worked either ends by itself or is not an activity at all. The framing that survives contact is not "what should I do in the gap" - it is "does this thing have an end I do not have to choose".
That also explains the chess result better than my version did. Nothing about a chess app is infinite, but the decision to stop is left to me every single time, which is the same tax as a feed wearing a different hat.
