Card statements are not proof of purchase for most manufacturers. They show an amount and a merchant, not an item, and I have had one rejected for exactly that.
Ask for an itemised receipt or invoice at the till. For anything expensive, ask them to email it, because a paper receipt in a drawer for eight years is a blank piece of paper.
