The fix that changed everything for me and is barely mentioned: take the lid off for the last hour on high.
A sealed cooker cannot reduce, so a recipe that expects a third of the liquid to evaporate arrives at the end with all of it. An hour uncovered does most of what the hob would have done and it costs nothing.
