The configured fallback is cheap insurance and I would add: test it once a month, not just configure it. Mine was set up correctly and had drifted, and I found out on the day I needed it.
Ten minutes, once a month. The point of a fallback is that it works on the worst day, and an untested one is a comforting note in a config file.
