I am 17 and school has started putting me in front of olympiad style papers on Saturday mornings. I enjoy them, but they eat the hours I would otherwise spend on the syllabus, and two people have told me university…
Standard clause about company resources in my contract, plus a management profile I cannot inspect. I have been writing the project on it at night because it is the machine I have, and I know that is dumb. What I do not…
Sole earner, mortgage, and four months into something I can no longer pretend is a rough patch. Unpaid leave isn't an option and neither is walking out, so please don't tell me to take three months off. I'm looking for…
Target is 70/30. Good run has pushed it to about 78/22 over roughly fourteen months. I know I'm supposed to rebalance and every month I decide to wait because things are going well, which I recognise is exactly the…
Mine was shooting nearly everything wide open because shallow depth of field looked like what good photos had, and about half my portraits have one sharp eye and a soft everything else. Someone said it out loud at a…
Same crack every time, top corner of a bedroom doorway, running up at about 45 degrees for maybe 20cm. I have filled it twice with lightweight filler, sanded and painted, and it comes back within about four months both…
Two plants, healthy looking, huge leaves, flowering constantly. Every little fruit gets to about 5cm, the blossom end goes soft and yellow, and within two days the whole thing is mush and drops off. I am watering at the…
Saturday evening. Six year old spaniel came in from the garden holding his back left leg up, put it down after a few minutes, and has been limping on and off since: fine walking around the house, obvious limp when he…
I have a trait with an async method, implemented for a struct that holds an . It compiles fine and the tests pass when I await it directly. The moment I call it inside I get a wall of text ending in 'future is not…
Everything I make fits well at the front and does something odd between the shoulder blades that I can only see in photos after I have finished. I have no sewing friends, a mirror on a wardrobe door, and I am not…
Every time I change something I get impatient after two weeks and change it again, which means I have no idea what works. Roughly how long should I hold a routine before judging it, and does it depend on what I changed…
the product came out of consulting work, it's $89/mo, and i've got 30 paying accounts. every one of them gets a 45 minute call from me where i connect their data source and set up the first three workflows, and churn is…
I have been posting weekly updates for about seven months. Four weeks ago I posted the next three things I was building, with rough screenshots of one of them. Two weeks later a much better funded product in the same…
My nephew moves into his own place in September and can currently boil pasta and reheat things. He will have 20 minutes on a weeknight, one decent pan, and no interest in becoming a cook. I want to teach him techniques…
Small ecommerce, 6k a month in Google Ads running at a bit over 3x return, so it pays for itself but nothing compounds and the moment I stop, revenue stops. The plan was to move half the budget into content and links…
took over a small app from a contractor, ships to maybe 4000 users, and the release doc says run expo publish. that command is gone on the sdk we are upgrading to and i now have to understand the replacement before i…
Same pattern four times this year with running. I get to day nine or eleven, something disrupts it, a cold or a work trip, I miss two days, and then it's just over. Not a slow fade, a cliff. I don't miss it and I don't…
I counted forty automations last night and I could only justify about twelve of them out loud. My partner has started describing the lights as haunted, which is fair, because motion lighting in the kitchen turns off…
I am 47, spend around 30k a year after tax, and have roughly 420k invested with about 60 percent of it sheltered. The appeal of a dividend only approach is never having to sell anything, especially in a bad year. I am…
Trained at a gym for about eight months and could squat and deadlift a barbell reasonably, then moved somewhere with no realistic gym option. I have adjustable dumbbells that top out at 24 kg each, a flat bench and a…
Weighing most things, using an app, hitting roughly 1800 on weekdays. Three weeks and the scale is within half a kilo of where it started. I am not trying to do anything drastic, just slowly lose a bit, and I cannot…
Broken chord accompaniment in the left, melody in the right. Hands separately I can play both cleanly at 92. Hands together at 60 it is fine, at 66 the left hand starts creeping ahead within about four bars, and by the…
Starter is 100 percent hydration, fed 1:5:5, reliably triples in about four hours at 24C and passes the float test. Dough is 500g bread flour, 350g water, 100g starter, 10g salt. Bulk about five hours with four sets of…
Dropped a 210mm gyuto, 61 HRC, and lost about 3mm of the tip at an angle, leaving a small stub instead of a point. The rest of the edge is fine. I have a 220 diamond plate, a 1000 and a 5000. I can either grind the tip…
A cheque and an online transfer both landed in my account on Friday. The balance updated straight away and the app showed the money, then underneath it said the funds wouldn't be available until Tuesday. If the bank…
