Agreed, though vary the sauce rather than the protein if you are prone to boredom. Same chicken with a yoghurt and lemon dressing on Monday and a peanut and chilli one on Wednesday reads as two different meals.

Stop trying to close the gap with one heroic dinner and attach 25 to 35g to every eating occasion instead. That is what fixed it for me.
Rough numbers per 100g that I keep in my head:
- Greek yoghurt or skyr, 10g
- cottage cheese, 11g
- tinned tuna or sardines, 20 to 25g per tin
- firm tofu, 15g
- cooked lentils, 9g
- lean beef or turkey mince, 26g cooked
- prawns, 20g
- eggs, about 6g each
A breakfast of two eggs plus 200g of skyr is already 32g before you have thought about it. Lunch with a tin of fish on top of whatever you were eating adds 22g for almost no effort. Do that and the 140 stops needing a plan.
Wipe the glass with a dedicated sponge or an old bank card right before your water change so it gets siphoned out rather than settling back down. Takes 30 seconds and the tank looks presentable for the week.
The honest answer is I have not logged a single Saturday. I think I know what the problem is.
I have been weighing every few days and reacting to each number, which explains why it feels like nothing works.
Whatever you pick, do problems rather than watch videos. I lost a month of evenings to lecture videos before an old exam paper showed me I could follow every step and produce none of them. 45 minutes of working problems beats 90 minutes of watching someone else work them.
Very normal, and yes, distribution is probably doing a lot of it. Toast and a light lunch is a morning with almost no protein and not much fibre, and both are what make a meal hold you.
What I would change first, before touching totals: get 30 to 40g of protein into breakfast and the same at lunch, taking it from your dinner rather than adding to your day. Eggs, yoghurt, cottage cheese, leftover meat on the sandwich, a tin of fish in the salad. When I moved about 40g of my dinner protein earlier in the day, the three o'clock hunger largely stopped within a week.
Second, add volume. A salad with 300g of vegetables and some beans is a different physical experience from a sandwich, even at similar calories.
Everyone hits this once. The label is answering a narrower question than the one people are asking.
Sauces are what carry it. Three jars of different dressings in the fridge turn one protein into a week of meals.
Trimming it to make it spread is not something I would have guessed. How short is short?
Well that explains the bald patch that appeared after my last water change.
