Add one more check: ask the seller for a frame shot at the highest sensitivity you would ever use. Hot pixels and a tired sensor show up there and nowhere else, and it costs them thirty seconds.

The studies people screenshot usually show that some organic filters are detectable in blood after heavy application. Detectable is not the same as harmful, and that gap is the entire argument. Regulators asked for more safety data on some of the older filters, which is a normal process, and it got reported as a verdict. Meanwhile the thing sunscreen protects against is very well established.
Whatever you buy, spend the first month with one lens and the mode dial in aperture priority. Every beginner I have helped who struggled was struggling with too many variables, not with the wrong body.
Used body, new-ish lens, and put the money into the lens. A camera body two or three generations old is a bargain because everyone else is chasing the current one, and the sensor is not what is limiting you at this stage. The fast dog is the one demanding requirement in your list, so prioritise a body with decent continuous autofocus over one with a higher megapixel count, and accept that this is the single hardest subject to shoot well with an entry-level system at any price.
Two-week battery claims are measured with almost everything switched off. Continuous heart rate plus sleep tracking will roughly halve most of them. Assume half the box number and you won't be disappointed by anything.
Separate the catalogue problem from the editing problem before you commit. A lot of people are unhappy with a free editor because they are really unhappy with how it manages files, and a dedicated culling tool plus any developer is a better shape for a big landscape library than one application trying to do both.
Darktable is the one people actually keep, and the honest framing is that it takes a weekend rather than an hour. The interface is not going to become friendly, but the raw processing genuinely competes with paid tools and the catalogue handles a forty-thousand-file library on external storage without complaint. RawTherapee is the alternative if you prefer its sharpening and demosaicing, with a weaker library side. Whichever you pick, learn the module order first, because that is what makes it feel arbitrary at the start.
Worth saying that the usual rule of thumb for freshwater is roughly 4 to 6 times tank volume per hour, and rated flow is optimistic — actual flow is commonly 20 to 30 percent under the number on the box once media and head height are in play. So a planted 29 on a big sponge plus circulation is genuinely fine, it is just not what the packaging trains you to expect.
You have read it correctly. On that ecosystem the recorded video is the subscription, with the entry plan covering a single device at about five dollars a month or fifty a year, and the higher tiers adding whole-home coverage and features like continuous recording. Live view and a notification with no history is close to useless for your parcel question, because by the time you open the app the person has gone. If you want to pay once, you are shopping for local storage, not for that brand.
Instax on cost grounds and it is not close. Mini film in twin packs works out somewhere around sixty to ninety cents a frame, while Polaroid i-Type in eight-shot packs lands closer to a dollar fifty to two twenty-five. At ninety guests and an expected two frames each you are looking at roughly one hundred and eighty frames, which is a very different bill depending on which way you go. Polaroid gives you a bigger, more beautiful object and slower, less predictable development, which at a party means people walking off with a print that has not finished.
The ones that stay in use are the ones with a job that the phone cannot do, and yours has two: it lives outside in weather, and it records unattended while you are doing something else. That is a real job. The ones that end up in a drawer were bought to make holiday films, which is a task the phone does better and more conveniently every year. Buy for the mount, not for the sensor.
The discipline is real and it is also the cheapest thing on your list to fake. Put a 50mm on your digital body, set it to manual, cover the screen with gaffer tape and give yourself thirty-six frames before you are allowed to look. If you do that for a month and still want film, you want film for its own sake, which is a perfectly good reason and the only one that survives the third month. Everyone who starts shooting film to become more deliberate and stops, stops around roll six when the lab bill arrives.
Rent it for a weekend and shoot a real session, not a test. Two hundred percent crops on a monitor answer a question nobody has ever asked a photographer.
Sharpness is the thing people compare and it is the thing that matters least at your output sizes. What actually shows up in delivered portrait work is the rendering of the out-of-focus area, the shape of specular highlights toward the frame edges, and how the lens behaves against a bright window, plus autofocus that keeps up when someone turns their head. Your complaint is literally the busy background, which is the one area where the expensive glass genuinely earns the money. That is a real reason to upgrade, unlike wanting more resolution you will never print.
And it stops the camera racking focus to your hands every time they enter the frame, which is the single most common complaint about craft streams.
The other tell is whether the manufacturer publishes an exploded parts diagram publicly rather than only to authorised service centres. Companies that hide the diagram usually also restrict the parts.
