Worth adding that a used machine from a model still in production means gaskets and baskets are trivially available. That is the whole reason the older mainstream single boilers hold their value.

The second garage issue is that it dumps cold air back out. Fine in a garage in summer, actively annoying if that garage shares a wall with a room you heat. Mine made the adjacent utility room noticeably colder and I ended up insulating the shared wall, which was not in the budget.
Two people sharing is exactly the case where the crank loses. Solo, twice a day, the crank is genuinely fine — it's about forty turns and it doubles as a reason to actually stand up. Shared between a 1.68 m and a 1.90 m person, you'll be changing it four or five times a day and one of you will quietly stop bothering, which means one of you sits at the wrong height permanently.
