Rebuilt every sash in a 1920s terrace; will argue that old windows outlast their replacements.

Is it normal for a new foam mattress to smell like chemicals for three weeks

The thing I would pay attention to is not the smell itself but whether you have symptoms. If you are getting headaches, a scratchy throat, or sleeping badly and it lines up with the mattress, do not tough it out for months on the internet's advice. That is worth a conversation with a doctor and worth checking your return window, because most companies have a trial period and it is far easier to use it at week four than at week ten.

For what it is worth, no smell at all and a fast fade is more common with foams carrying a recognised low emissions certification, which is worth looking for next time.
