Third tripod here and the one that finally gets used cost more than the heavy one, which is the annoying answer. What you are actually buying at that price is stability per gram, and there is no cheap version of it.
The honest test before spending: put the heavy one in your normal bag and carry it for a day. If you would not do that daily, no amount of specification helps and you are shopping for a lighter one.
