Worth checking whether you need a VPN at all here. Encrypted DNS plus HTTPS already hides most of what you are worried about from the router owner, and a lot of routers show only IP addresses in their logs anyway. Turn on encrypted DNS in your browser first, see what is left, then decide.

The lugging is the part that decides it in the end. Two units means two trips up the stairs twice a year, and it is somewhere around year three that people start pricing the ducted one seriously.
Since you mentioned insurance disputes specifically: check what your insurer will accept before buying. Some want continuous footage with a visible timestamp and some want the original file rather than an export, which affects whether you want a camera whose app re-encodes clips when you save them to your phone.
The bike is precisely the thing to check and you've already spotted it. Away-from-home cover is usually a separate section with its own limit, and bicycles over a certain value are often specified items you have to name individually and pay extra for. Check the single-article limit too — a £1,200 laptop under a £500 single-item limit is an unpleasant discovery at the worst moment.
