It moves the problem if the mattress is too firm because the support core is wrong, and it fixes the problem if it is too firm because the comfort layer is thin. Yours is eleven months old and firm from day one, which points at the second. Rule of thumb I use: press down hard with a flat palm. If you feel springs within about 4 cm, a topper will help. If the whole thing is uniformly rigid to the depth of your hand, it will not.

Weight is the spec nobody lists and everybody feels. A 30 cm classic skillet is heavy enough that some people quietly stop reaching for it, while the thinner machined pans are noticeably easier to move one-handed with food in them. If you have any wrist trouble at all, pick one up in person before you buy 3 kg of iron.
Check valve is not optional, it is the difference between a quiet tank and siphoning ten gallons onto your floor after a power cut. They cost about a dollar.
