The quarter turn down between fills took it to nearly full. I'd been pumping the whole stroke each time, which just moved the same air around.

Two years in and still learning long exposures the hard way. My photos are getting sharper and I can tell you exactly which mistakes caused the blurry ones.
Check the cap. Inner caps seal well when clean, and a build-up of dried ink in there stops the seal, and then the nib dries out overnight regardless of ink. Cotton bud, warm water, twenty seconds.
Genuinely true and easy to test. My winter feathering problems mostly vanish by June.
And if you do, use the highest grit you have, write four or five wet figure-eights, then test. Most people go far too hard on the first go.
