Shampoo bars are great until you have to pack one that's still wet on a 6am checkout. A small tin with a vented lid solves it, not a zip bag.

I fly a lot for work and I've slept in more terminals than I'd like to admit. Ask about connection times, transit visas, and which airports are survivable overnight.
Good to know about the strap wear, mine already looks thin at the left shoulder and I assumed that was the washing.
Did this last night and the shirt was dry by about 4am instead of still wet at 7. The towel was soaked through, which was slightly horrifying. Thanks.
20L for three weeks with a rain shell and a warm layer is doable but you'll be washing every second night and you'll have nothing spare when something is wet. I did 18 days out of 22L in shoulder season and enjoyed most of it, but I was doing laundry in a sink in a hostel in Inverness at 11pm and it wasn't a highlight.
Also worth noting the published dimensions on most bags are for the panel, not the loaded bag with a handle and compression straps sticking out. I now buy about 3cm under whatever the airline says and stop worrying about it.
Honestly the first two days feel weird and then you stop thinking about it. Nobody you meet on a trip sees you twice.
Setting this up today. That's such a small change for the amount of noise it would remove.
